Tórshavn Marathon with Mikkeller Running Club (MRC)

This running tour goes to the most isolated destination in Scandinavia: The Faroe Islands. With Torshavn Marathon as the primary event, we will take you on a special tour of the archipelagos amazing nature. In company with local faroese, you will experience an exciting and authentic local community, which in many ways lives differently than we do in Denmark.
On this tour you will experience the Faroes uniqe nature when we walking, in car and on water will be wide around teh islands. We will also go outside the everyday life in the capital, Torshavn. Besides the run, we will also hike, sail and of course taste some delicious sea food, when the local community invite us inside in their faroese life and teach us about the history, customs and traditions of the country.

We will meet in Copenhagen airport and fly together to the Faroe Islands. We will be picked up In Vagar Airport and will right away drive out in the faroese mountain landscape. We will visit different viewpoints and for the first time get familiar with the faroese gastronomi at a local village. Later you will get insight into the life of a faroese sheep breeder. After the meeting with the four legged animal, we will eat dinner. Then we will drive to Torshavn, where we will overnight.

Running day. It is today your legs will be tested, when moving out on the running distance. The iconic route goes through Torshavn and out in the faroese landscape. It will be a route which can overwhelm the most, with its beautiful nature, steep hills, long flat routes and the incredible atmosphere. In the evening we will celebrate that you have completed the tough run. Together with the whole group we will enjoy a fest, and stop by Mikkeller Bar in Torshavn.

Today we are driving to Árnafjørður, from where we will go on a sailtour – this time in a small wooden boat. During the tour we will stop by several viewpoints.
When arriving to Árnafjørður we will eat lunch, before going to the sea. As we are sailing, we will also learn about the faroese history and there will be plenty of chances to catch a lot of fish. We will end the day with an authentic dinner in Leirvirk.

With a lot of interesting experiences, it has become time for the last shared dinner. After breakfast we will drive back to the airport and the itinerary ends. Together we will fly to Copenahgen (or Billund) and say goodbye to our group. Hopefully you cant wait to share your stories and experiences with everyone else.

As the Faroe Islands embossed with a changeable and unpredictable weather, there will be changes of the itinerary. We will do anything we can to update you accordingly. In case anything will be canceled, we will find you an alternative.

The run

At Torshavn Marathon you can run a full marathon, half marathon, 10,5 km or 5,5 km. This route will take you through the traditionel capital Torshavn as well on the hilled sceneri which are everywhere on the Faroe Islands. Briefly told, Torshavn has everything and any runner will experience the authentic and cosy atmosphere.
The entire route have asphalt, and both half- and full marathon is AIMS measured and certified.
