The Monument of independence in Ashgabat is built in the park of the same name, namely the Independence Park. The monument itself is 118 meters high, of which the tower measures 91 meters and the gold top measures the remaining 27 meters. The top is 10 meters in diameter. The targets reflect the independence of Turkmenistan on 27.10.1991.
In front of Monument of independence one sees one of the many gold statues of former president, Saparmurat Niyazov. At the bottom of the monument there is a small museum with various national treasures. Unfortunately it is not possible to come in and see the content as it has always been closed.
